Vibration Applications |
 |
Bearings and shafts can fail due to overload, misalignment, insufficient lubrication,
and assembly defects. The Octavis system is designed to display, in real
time, the amplitude and frequency curve which can immediately show problem
areas. |
|
Bearing Applications |
 |
The Octavis system is designed to monitor the inner
race, outer race, and ball elements of a roller bearing. In order for
Octavis to monitor the critical frequencies associated with the bearing
components, it needs the following inputs:
- Bearing geometry (number of balls, ball diameter, and pitch diameter or
DIN number)
- Rotational speed (RPM)
>
- For data on bearings see |
|
Unbalance
Applications |
 |
An unbalanced shaft can cause premature bearing failure and adversely
affect other system components. The Octavis system can monitor the degree of
shaft unbalance. In order to monitor the shaft, the following input is
required:
- Rotational speed (RPM) |
|
Octavis
System - Hardware and Software working together |
 |
Octavis Hardware and Software work together to provide continuous
monitoring of bearings, shafts, etc. by converting the acceleration and time into the frequency domain
using Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) which is displayed in graphical form
on the computer and monitored by a series of LED on the unit itself.
The
monitor can monitor up to 20 selectable frequencies or up to 5 different
elements. Free Vibration Software is available providing spectral analysis FFT, Envelope curve-FFT and Trend Analysis.
The system uses a micromechanical
acceleration sensor. Data can be collected, processed and evaluated with
no expert know-how required.
Continuous monitoring
Octavis system is designed for
the early detection of rolling element bearing damage or unbalance;
continuous monitoring offers a more reliable alternative to intermittent
analysis.
One unit can monitor up to five different objects or 20
individual frequencies. An object is defined as a rolling element bearing
or a shaft.
With Octavis system permanent vibration monitoring is no longer a question
of price.
The integrated
expert
Acoustic emission is detected, the frequency spectrum is calculated and
e.g. the rolling element bearing state, the unbalance etc. are evaluated.
The condition can be directly read on the unit and digital output are
provided for alarming.

Vibration Analyzer Kit |
  |
The analyzer kit includes software, sensor,
communication cables, temporary magnet, and power supply in a case for you
to carry around to different applications and take readings.
You can take a snapshot of the spectrum you choose and download that into
another program like Excel to keep as a reference.
For more critical applications that you may want to monitor constantly you
can just get another sensor, permanently mount to the motor, fan, pump,
etc... and the sensor will signal via two switching outputs (early signal,
late signal). Each sensor has the ability to monitor up to 5 objects
simultaneously. This allows you to monitor more than one thing on a motor
as long as there is a solid transmission of vibration (e.g. 2 sets of
bearing & unbalance). Since the sensor is doing the evaluation for you it
eliminates the labor and time that it takes to evaluate each application
by using charts.
The analyzer kit is U90009. It is $995. The kit's sensor is part number
VE1001 and lists for $773.
